Rakshabandhan- A festival of brothers and sisters

Rakhi or Rakshabandhan is a festival, to celebrate the strong bond between the brother and sister. This festival is also known as Rakhi Purnima in some parts of the country. The festival is on Full moon day.

In this festival, sisters tie the sacred thread or string on their brothers' right wrists, and pray for their long life. And brother's promises to take care of their sisters from any difficulty.

In ancient days, Rakhi resulted in innumerable political ties among kingdoms and states. The Rajputs and Maraths queens, sent Rakhis to Mughal Kings and despite their differences, the Mughal Kings have offered help and protection to their Rakhi-sisters  at critical moments and honoured the fraternal bond.

We, celebrated this festival of love, at our school, and kids understood the value of this festival.
